The Problem with Shawshank
Shawshank Redemption is arguably one of the greatest movies of our
generation Frankly, at any given moment it is playing on one channel across
the cable/satellite universe and this is proof of it’s popularity. You can
pretty much jump into this movie at any given point and enjoy the remaining
minutes with satisfaction. It is one of the most instantly recognizable movies
as well. Probably the most recalled scene involves it’s main character, Andy
Dufresne, as he crawls through 500 yards of septic pipe to his freedom. In this
scene we see, metaphorically, the rain washing away his soiled body as he is
born again into a free world.
